NEW DISCOVERY TRAILS
IN CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE

Map of hiking trails Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Courthézon

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation has just inaugurated two new hiking trails allowing visitors to discover the vineyards. Born from a collaboration between the winegrowers' union and the town halls of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Courthézon, these trails marked with 24 educational panels offer a fun and informative immersion in the heart of the AOC.

Two complementary loops are proposed:

  • An "AOC Discovery" circuit of 5.2 km (2h to 2h30 walk) presenting the history of the appellation, its terroirs, emblematic grape varieties, its fauna and flora.

  • A 4.1 km "Biodiversity" circuit (1h30 to 2h) highlighting the diversity of the vineyard, the actions undertaken by the winegrowers for sustainable development and the preservation of the environment.

In total, nearly 10 km of trails wind through the vines and estates, with remarkable viewpoints. Picnic areas are set up along the way.

Laure Berthet-Rayne Capeau, President of the Winegrowers' Union, explains: "Our ambition is to allow the public to go and meet the vineyard with a loop dedicated to the appellation, and another to the safeguarding of biodiversity in the heart of the vines."

Inaugurated on May 17th, these trails are a new tool for wine tourism in the appellation's territory. They will allow visitors, both locals and tourists, to immerse themselves in the universe of Châteauneuf-du-Pape while enjoying a beautiful walk in the heart of nature.

To extend the experience (after the walk), hikers can make a tasting stop at Domaine Berthet-Rayne. The tasting room is located at 2 334 route de Caderousse in Courthézon and is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm (weekends by appointment only).

This is an opportunity to discover the estate's different cuvées in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône appellations, commented by the owners Laure and Martial Capeau, 4th generation of winegrowers.

The estate has been committed to organic farming since 2004, another fascinating aspect to discover.

Combining the pleasure of the eyes and the palate for a 100% Châteauneuf-du-Pape day!
